There are 12 video units and 5 workbooks in IN ENGLISH.
Each unit is composed of nine sections.
Four of the sections are on the videotape, marked with this
symbol: [ ]
|
-
SCENE [S]
SCENE is the first section, presenting scenes from Southern
California, narrated using the vocabulary and sentence structure that will be
introduced in the unit.

VOCABULARY [V] [P]
All of the new vocabulary in the unit is in this section of the workbook.
The vocabulary is also on the video in two places.
In the VOCABULARY section of the video, the words are defined;
in the PRONUNCIATION section, the same words are
pronounced for the camera.
QUESTIONS
The third section of the workbook is a series
of suggested questions designed to expand comprehension of the SCENE. The
question numbers correspond to the numbers in the blue triangles
which appear on the video in the SCENE section.
STRUCTURE
The examples in this section of
the workbook reinforce the sentence structure of the unit.
WRITING
The fifth section is a series of exercises providing
practice in writing questions and answers using the sentence structure of
the unit.
DIALOG [D]
A serial drama filled with natural, informal conversations and
everyday events. The characters use only sentence structures and
vocabulary previously presented in the program. The Dialog also
appears in each video unit.
- CONVERSATION
The seventh section presents points of departure for students to
practice speaking in English with friends or classmates, using
the sentence structure and vocabulary of the unit.
EVALUATION
The eighth section is a Cloze test. It provides more practice writing
and reading, with emphasis on the structural points of the unit.
TEST
A TEST section is at the back of the workbook for each unit.
